Great Finish to Pickleball League Play

I don’t normally post much about pickleball, but I’m just gonna sneak these in here because it makes me really happy.

I played in our Rec Center’s pickleball League this spring, and enjoyed every second of it. When we came to the end of the season, my doubles partner Denise and I were undefeated, and we came home with gold for League play as well as gold for the Finals.

My mixed doubles partner Mike and I lost two games during regular season (it was a much larger field). We finished third in League play—no medals were awarded for third place—and we beat the number two seed to came in second place in our Finals bracket.

Lance came and watched the Finals, which was also really nice.

I normally play pickleball for two or three hours a day, five days a week, and I teach clinics three times a week. I can’t tell you how good it has been for helping me stay fit and deal with Parkinson’s symptoms. My body and brain are always better functioning during the week when I’m playing than on the weekends when I’m home.

So I’m all in.

And I’m currently looking for some tournaments to compete in this summer, probably at the 3.5 level. And I’m also looking forward to League again in the fall!

We had pickleball at the school gym on weekends for two years before Hurricane Dorian flooded the school. I loved it and will play again when we gets new courts installed or if we can get back to the gym. It is great exercise. So happy to hear your success!

Hi Ruth! Wow, so it’s been a while since the school was flooded (2019?). Is the gym still out of commission, or are there just no pickleballs lines on the courts? How fun to hear that you were able to get some pickleball in out there… It’s fun!
