Hepatica in a Spot of Sun

Sharp-lobed hepatica sends up these ethereal, pink-tinged flowers in the spring, but only after the flower blooms will you see the young leaves arrive. The three-lobed, green-and-purple mottled leaves expand and develop during the summer, fall, and winter, then die back to make way for the bloom again in springtime.
