This 11×17 mixed-media painting began with washes of Daniel Smith Quinacridone Burnt Orange—a color that immediately made me think of distance, warmth, and late-day light.
I’ve never traveled farther west than Arkansas, but when I imagine the light of the American West—the vastness, the distance, the warmth—I think this color must somehow be a part of it.
