Some paintings begin as landscapes and end as dreams. Midnight Pass emerged from a study of starlight and shadow, where indigo skies sweep over mountains traced with molten gold. The piece belongs to my ongoing Secret Atlas series, which explores imagined terrains—some memory, some myth.
As I worked, the gold began to feel like stained glass set into darkness, refracting light rather than reflecting it. I think that’s what the whole Secret Atlas series is about—finding the glimmering paths hidden in the dark.

Midnight Pass is about 6″x9″, painted with Kuretaki Gansai Tambi watercolors, and the small mosaic pieces are set on handmade Khadi paper.
This piece is one of two so far; the companion piece is larger, and I might make a third with some of the rainbow lights of the aurora borealis in it as well.

I’ll let you know when I finish the collection. It will then go up on my Fine Art website (and be available for sale) at LisaCreechBledsoe.com
