My friend Greg sent me a photo he took of Murrells Inlet, SC, after he visited there this summer. I knew it was within my abilities to paint (yay) and it was just a stunning photo. The light is magnificent! I set it aside to work on, and just came around to it again today.

I made the sky a bit more dramatic, and I think it mostly succeeded. There are things I would do differently next time (like making the inlet wider at the bottom of the page), but I feel pretty happy with it. Thank you, Greg!

I owe special hugs and ice creams with sprinkles to all the fabulous people who support me on Patreon. They make it possible for me to keep working and growing with watercolors. They see all the behind-the-scenes “in progress” photos, and they also see the paintings that didn’t make it. And best of all, they get first dibs on both commissions and purchases!

Thanks, y’all!
Beautiful work. You captured the mood of the place.
Thanks, Susanna!
