Secret Crossing on Dutch Creek Oil Painting

I’m working to be able to invent my paintings just a little bit, rather than always being tied to a photograph. So while this one had origins as a photo, I did my best to go my own way.

I painted in the basics, then began to work without a reference. I’ve painted a creek scene a couple of times before, so I have a little bit of understanding of how water paints up.
