Pippi said “Let’s go for a walk in the woods!” so I did, just a bit. Our trails are pretty well obstructed from the hurricane, so any walking in the woods is fairly short-lived and random. But Pippi didn’t care, and even Bee leapt along ahead of us. Rocky hung back, and while I considered carrying him out into the slough a little ways, in the end I let him watch us from the trailhead. He’s an old pup with heart trouble, so I was just happy he could enjoy some sunshine.

I did stop long enough to make a small offering on a mossy rock in the middle of Little Sister; some tulip poplar seedheads, a tuft of usnea, and a snail shell. As much as the hurricane changed our mountain, I’m still grateful to have such a beautiful place to live.

Amen to that.
“As much as the hurricane changed our mountain, I’m still grateful to have such a beautiful place to live.” That’s something we can adapt for our own challenges and circumstances. Thank you.
