Silken

Silken

This painting began with layers and marks, but somewhere along the way, it softened into a creamy mixture of rose, champagne, lavender, pale gold, and the faintest hints of blue. The earlier layers are still there, but they’re barely whispering.

As I worked, I kept thinking about a piece of writing I once did for a haute couture lingerie studio—an atelier, really. The bespoke pieces were ethereal and gorgeous, made with an almost astonishing amount of time, care, and attention to tiny details.

$250 in-person/show pricing. Frame not included.

That feeling stayed with me as I worked on Silken. Its surface has an almost tactile quality: delicate and sumptuous at the same time. Soft, but not fragile. You have to slow down to notice everything that’s happening here.

That’s what I love about Silken: it doesn’t demand attention. But it definitely rewards it.
