Lisa and Lance down at the road

Summer Turning

Walking in the golden hour as late summer turns toward fall—everything was washed in light. The goldenrod is just past its peak, but still stately, looking about ten feet tall as Bee strolls by. Lance and I only went down to the road, but we were amazed by how lemony and green the woods still are. We found a pretty mushroom colony on an old mossy stump, but mostly, apparently, we were out there to take pictures of the cats.

Oh, according to this wooly worm’s stripes, we’re in for a medium-long winter—which sounds about average for us. I’m willing to let the wooly worm have the final word.
