I love yarrow (Achillea millefolium) most for its feathery leaves. The species name millefolium means “thousand leaves,” a fitting description for foliage so finely divided and delicate.
It grows in sunny spots on our mountain, and every summer I find myself admiring it. I’ve gathered the young leaves for tea from time to time.
I wish we had more field daisies here, but I found a few stems to tuck into this bouquet with the yarrow. One of the things I love about daisies is their staying power. Even after they’re cut, they seem determined to remain cheerful, often lasting two weeks or more in a vase.
